SUMMARY:City Livery Sailing Challenge - register your interest
DESCRIPTION:Learn full details here: https://www.cityliverysailingchallenge.co.uk/ \nIf you are interested\, please contact Clare Ferrar on clareferrar@accountantslivery.org who can direct you to the lead contact from the Chartered Accountants’ Livery Company. \n\nWe are delighted that you have expressed an interest in competing in the City Livery Sailing Challenge for the Princess Royal Challenge Cup presented by the Glass Sellers. The regatta will be organised by the Sea View Yacht Club on September 12th. The event will begin on Friday 11th September evening with an informal supper when we hope that you bring not only your crews but as many supporters as you can muster. \nThe format for the sailing will be as follows: \n09.00 – Briefing Meeting\n10.00 – First Mermaid Race for the first 12 Livery Companies\n11.30 – Second Mermaid Race for second 12 Livery Companies\n12.00 – Lunch\n14.00 – Third Race for the last 6 Mermaids in the first and second races\n15.30 – Final Mermaid Race for first 6 in the first and second races to establish to winner.\n19.00 – Reception and Prize-giving. Dress Smart Casual especially if you think you are a prize winner!\n20.15 – Dinner \nThere will be an opportunity to practise on Friday evening from 5pm for which there will be an extra £50 charge. \n5pm – Practice Mermaid charter\, a chance to hone your skills and have a go \nFrom 7pm – Drinks in the Sea View Yacht Club (casual dress) \n8pm ’til late – Supper at the Sea View Yacht Club. \n\nIf you wish to enter more than one boat then there will be an additional fee of £200. \nSince the regatta raises money for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal and the Seaview Sailing Trust it is usual for the livery company to pay for the charter fee but all the other costs of entertainment to include supper on Friday\, the reception\, prizegiving and dinner on Saturday would normally be met by the individuals themselves. The cost of this is £100 per person and it would be helpful and save hours of work for the organisers if this cost could be collected by the team captains and remitted in one sum.  It would also be helpful if each team would nominate a Team Captain and send us their contact details in order to keep communication simple. The cost of entertaining will be collected on or before 1st September please and sent to the same account as the charter fee. Also it would be greatly appreciated if you could send us the names of the attendees so that we can compile a guest list. \nTravel to the Island by Hovertravel or Wightlink FastCat to Ryde is probably the less expensive crossing but none of them are cheap. \n

SUMMARY:Much Ado About Nothing
DESCRIPTION:Sharp tongues and savage gossip fuel a messy\, magnetic attraction in this new production of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing in the Globe Theatre. \nThe war is over\, but the battle for love is just beginning. SUMMARY:FSG invitation - Justice for All Series
DESCRIPTION:Introduction:\n\n\n\nJustice underpins our freedoms\, our economy\, and our civic life. Yet our systems are under pressure—underfunded\, overstretched\, and outdated. The Justice for All Series provides a platform to confront this reality with honesty and ambition. \nConceived by Alderman Robert Hughes-Penney\, Sheriff of the City of London (2025–26)\, and hosted at the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey)\, this five-part series brings together those in a position to ask hard questions—and propose evidence-based solutions. \nFramed around the anniversaries of Magna Carta (1225) and UN Sustainable Development Goal 16\, the series does not seek consensus\, but clarity: What does a just society require today? Who must act? And what will it cost us if we do not? \n\nFor full details and bookings please click here: Home – Justice for All Series

SUMMARY:Interlivery Golf Croquet - register your interest
DESCRIPTION:The Interlivery Golf Croquet Competition will be held this year on Saturday 27 June 2026 at Southwick near Brighton\, commencing at 9:30am for 10:00am. Many of you will remember that we won the trophy last year – Jonathan Grosvenor and Lynn Pearcy doing an excellent job – and the Chartered Accountants’ Company is taking a team again this year. \nWe have a full team for this year based on past players and those who were reserves last year.\nWe would still welcome more members who would like to play\, but standing as reserves for this year. If you are interested\, please reply by email. If you have a croquet handicap (golf or association) do include that in your email. \nExperience of golf croquet is not a requirement though for the competition as there is a short training session before the competition itself begins. \nThe day is great fun and the Southwick Croquet Club\, our hosts\, provide lunch and afternoon tea and there is also a pay bar. The day usually finishes around 4:00pm. \nWe do already have a full team for the current year (unless the team captain breaks a leg as he did last year) but we would really welcome supporters to come along\, cheer\, have a drink at the bar and meet the members from our own and other liveries. There are limited places for guests for lunch (at £60 per head) but these have to booked in advance. Again\, let us know if you would like to come and watch. \nFinally\, if croquet appeals but you don’t want put your name forward for the team – and there are limited places – or even know little about it and would like to learn – still let us know and we could think about a smaller internal friendly set of games.
