DESCRIPTION:We are looking for one more member to join us for the Inter-livery Golf Croquet Day on Saturday 15th June at the Sussex County Croquet Club\, in Southwick near Hove. \nExperience is not necessary as a training session is given at the start of the day. All equipment is also provided. Whilst it is an open competition\, a maximum of 36 teams (with two people in each team) can be accommodated\, which may mean limiting the number of entries that can compete in the beautiful surroundings of Sussex County Croquet Club\, in the village of Southwick\, to the west of Brighton. \nThe competition offers liverymen and their guests the opportunity to play golf croquet in the company of others and\, although competition for the Glovers’ Cup is intense\, the day offers those less familiar with the sport the chance to try their hand as well in the Inter Livery Challenge for first-time or occasional players for whom explanation and direction will be provided. \nWith its eleven immaculate lawns and pollarded lime trees\, Southwick is one of the most prestigious croquet venues in the world. The Golf Croquet World Championships were held at this venue twice in recent years. Lunch will be provided.

SUMMARY:Carpet Bowls Day
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED.  \nThis will now take place in September but a date hasn’t been set yet. \n\nOver the years\, a number of very successful Inter-Livery social events have emerged\, such as Croquet and Pétanque\, but to date there has been no Inter-Livery Carpet Bowls. \nOur Company recently lost yet another much-loved Member to Prostate Cancer (He was our fourth in just three years.)\, and this dreadful condition is a similar scourge across the entire City Civic. As a result\, the Master has decided that our Company will organise this event in aid of Prostate Cancer Research\, and in memory of him and all the other Livery/Guild victims on Saturday\, 25th January.  \nWe are all greatly indebted to our friends at The Plaisterers\, for so kindly agreeing to sponsor this fundraiser at their fabulous Hall. \nThe format of the day will be very simple: entries cost £49/person and guest players over 11yo are very welcome. Dress is casual (Jeans are fine\, but string vests are discouraged!) \nOur fellow Liveries and Guilds have all been invited to enter one or two teams of four. As organiser\, we can field up to four. \nThere will be teas and coffees served throughout the day\, plus a (reasonably priced!) cash bar over lunch\, offering red and white wine by the glass\, plus orange and apple juice. \nLunch will be a shared picnic and everyone must bring a contribution of cold food to be shared with others – ideally enough for several servings. (Quiche\, pates\, flans\, salads\, cold meats\, sandwiches etc\, and easy puddings). If you are truly useless at picnics\, tell Clare privately and we will buy your contribution for you\, for an extra £10 per entrant. (Your shameful secret will be safe with us!) \nFull joining instructions will be issued in the New Year\, but in essence\, the doors to Plaisterers will open at 10am\, with teas/coffees served. Then after a briefing at 10.30am on rules of the day\, plus demos of how to play\, and team rosters sorted\, everyone will play a round-robin series of matches to establish broad skill levels. After lunch the top half of teams will compete for the Hardman Cup\, whilst the rest will fight it out in a Plate Competition. There will be prizes and we should all be away by 4pm \nSo come and enjoy a great day of bowls\, whilst also supporting an excellent cause.

This must be done before midnight on Wednesday 5 February. \n\nThe Quiz includes rounds on sport\, entertainment\, general knowledge\, and so on\, as well as on other subjects relevant to the City. \nTimings are as follows: \n6:00PM – Arrival at Guildhall (Club Room) \n6:30PM – Start \n7:30PM – Fork buffet \n8:15PM – Re-start \n9:00PM – Finish \nThe buffet consists of one meat dish\, one fish dish\, three salads and a choice of desserts. Wine is included\, and vegetarian or other dietary requirements can be catered for. \n\nTicket price per person is £65. SUMMARY:Sheep Drive\, Craft Fair and Lunch - Sold Out
DESCRIPTION:This long-established City fundraiser celebrates a Freeman’s ancient right to bring flocks of sheep over the Thames and into the City’s market at Smithfield. This year’s sheep drive takes place on Southwark Bridge\, which will close for the day\, and as well as the opportunity to drive a small flock of sheep over the bridge (for which you get an official certificate)\, there is also a craft fair and lunch at a nearby restaurant. \nPlaces are hard to come by (It’s a “bucket list’ thing.)\, but Clare’s managed to secure ten\, for the 10.37am slot\, so book in and join the Master in experiencing this unique event. (Nobody will believe you when you tell them what you’ve done!) \nYou can also bring friends and family (anyone over five years old)\, who get a slightly different certificate\, and fancy dress is optional – needless to say\, there are usually lots of young Bo Peeps skipping around! \nDress is anything from entirely casual\, right up to full morning dress\, with badges and gowns.

DESCRIPTION:Following on from our two successful events last year\, the Financial Services Group of Liveries (FSG) will be holding another Pub takeover on Monday 27 October at 1800 until late at The Hand and Shears pub\, 1 Middle Street\,  EC1A 7JH.  \nThere is no charge and no booking\, just turn up\, buy your drinks and interact with colleagues and friends from the 16 different Livery companies that make up the Financial Services Group. \nIt would be great to have about 10+ from every FSG company to make the evening a roaring success\, so please share with other members\, and encourage especially young members to come along. \n\nThis event is being organised by the Information Technologists and any queries should be directed to Rob Wirszycz at rob@wirszycz.com
