The Gold and Silver Wyre Drawers have kindly invited us to their 325th Anniversary Dinner Dance at London Zoo.
The evening will start with a Sparkling Reception on the wonderful Penguin Beach, where we will be served drinks in the open air. The penguins will entertain us during their feeding time while we receive a fascinating talk by their Keeper. We will then move into the regally decorated Prince Albert Suite, built in the 1830s, with its spectacular terrace and balcony overlooking the Zoo and Regents Park, for a gourmet three-course dinner with wine.
After we have eaten, David McTea and the Swinging Magpies will perform musical arrangements especially tailored to gently encourage us to dance to swinging music from the 20s, 30s and 40s. There will also be a “taster” class by the Band Leader teaching us the basic steps of the 1920s Charleston. The volume of the music will be such as to allow us, if we do not wish to dance, to sit and chat at our tables or wander onto the private terrace with our drinks, overlooking the Zoo and possibly hear the lions and tigers talking to each other! What could be better on a warm summer evening?
